Lauryn Hill’s ex, Rohan Marley says that Wyclef Jean knew he wasn’t the father of Lauryn’s first son, Zion David.
In Wyclef’s latest memoir he claimed that his former Fugees band member duped him into thinking she was pregnant with his child, not Rohan’s.
According to the memoir, “Purpose,” Wyclef had an affair with his band mate in 1996 and when she got pregnant soon after she convinced him that she was carrying his child.
The child’s real father, one of Bob Marley’s sons Rohan Marley, is furious with the claims in the memoir and believes that the story is “bulls**t and a money-making ploy.”
The Marley son dated L Boogie from 1996 until they recently broke up last year and believes that Hill was faithful throughout the entire relationship.
The former football player went on to say that Wyclef “knew from the jump that was my son from the day [Lauryn] was pregnant.”
He is well aware that the Fugees members were messing around before the Sister Act 2 actress officially became his girlfriend, but claims that Jean gave him the okay to date her because they weren’t intimate with each other any longer.
“They were definitely not messing around, or he would never have given me the okay,” Marley explained.
Also, their busy schedules convinced the Rohan that there wasn’t even any time for his girlfriend to have an affair.
He says that he and the mother of his children were together in the studio every night and day and she wouldn’t have had the time to sneak around with the Haitian rapper.
The 42-year-old record producer is just “saying false things to get book headlines,” according to L Boogie’s ex.
According to TMZ, the “Purpose” author did get a chance to respond to the accusations that he is a liar trying to sell his memoir.
“There is no way that I would have shown up in the hospital in that circumstance to wait for a baby to be born if it was not mine,” Jean explained to TMZ. “The idea of a memoir is to tell the truth. I know that often the truth hurts, but a lie hurts even more.”
Mrs. Hill, on the other hand, seems to be avoiding the entire scandal as she prepares for the fall 2012 “Life is Good/ Black Rage” tour with Nas.
Nas announced the dates for the tour on Wednesday as he also announced that the soulful singer-songwriter would be joining him for 10 of the dates.
The tour will kick off on October 6 in Columbia in support of the 39-year-old rapper’s new album “Life is Good.”
The final tour date will be on New Year’s Eve in none other than the rapper’s home state of New York.
The “Doo Wop (That Thing)” singer will be there to support her own new single “Black Rage” which addresses the negative effects of racial inequity and abuse.
Reggae fans are just hoping that the new single is a sign of a new upcoming album from the “Everything is Everything” crooner who hasn’t released a new album since 1998.
