Salma Hayek Swaps Olympic Dreams For Normal Childhood

Actress Salma Hayek could have been a great Olympic gymnast. The 45-year old actress was a talented gymnast who learned her moves from a local class and watching the sport on TV. Salma was reportedly chosen by the Mexican team to represent her country – however her dreams were squashed by her father Sami.

“They drafted me… To be part of the Olympic team! But I was eight or nine and my father said no because I would have had to live in Mexico City in a boarding school for gymnasts, do eight hours a day of training, which for me was like paradise.”

After achieving immeasurable success as an actress, mother to 4-year old Valentina and married to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, it’s safe to say Salma isn’t holding a grudge.

“My father thought I wouldn`t have had a normal childhood, and he wanted me to be normal. It`s too bad that with all his efforts it didn`t work out! But anyway, it worked out for me because now I`m an actress!.”
