Heavy D Remembered By Usher, P Diddy And President Obama – VIDEO

UPDATE-Rapper Heavy D was remembered on Friday by many of his close friends and family.

Heavy D had a celebrity filled send off on Friday afternoon at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Last week, Dwight Arrington Myers’s sudden death sent shock waves through the entertainment industry and for his legions of fans who remembered the rappers infectious dance routines and catchy lyrics. On Friday Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, P. Diddy,   Jada Pinkett and Will Smith and many others were on hand for his send off. President Obama also expressed his condolences in a brief letter ready by Rev. Al Sharpton at the services. Via Huff Post, Sharpton read,

“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.”

Sean P Diddy Combs have long credited Heavy D for giving his start at Uptown Records he to had touching words for Heavy D,

“He became my friend. He became my brother, and I’m not talking about friend-brother like we cavalierly use the word, I’m talking about a real friend, a real brother,” Diddy said. “Somebody I shared my dreams and my secrets with, somebody that’s been there for me at my lowest point, my darkest hour when nobody wanted to be beside me.”

Heavy’s D, 11-year old Xea Myers said her father is “still her, not in flesh, but in the spirit.”
